OBITUARY for PAUL K. Rickenbaugh

MIFFLINTOWN Ñ PAUL K. Rickenbaugh, 85, of RR3, Mifflintown, died Monday, May 28, 2007, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.

Born Aug. 5, 1921, in Mexico, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Paul Raymond and Hazel (Kinzer) Rickenbaugh. His wife, Elda Mae (McCahan) Rickenbaugh, whom he married July 4, 1942, survives.

Also surviving are two children: Nancy Rolain and husband, Michael, and David Rickenbaugh, all of RR3, Mifflintown, sisters and brother: Alma Zimmerman of RR4, Mifflintown, Shirley Weller and husband, Jack, of McAlisterville, and Ralph Rickenbaugh and wife, Geraldine, of RR2, McAlisterville, two grandsons: Jeremy Rolain and wife, Carrie, of Port Royal, and Justin Rolain and wife, Holly, of Madison, Wis., two great-grandsons: Kyle and Erickson Rolain, and one step- great-grandson, Howie Sheehan.

He attended Fayette High School. He served in the 120th Infantry of the 30th Division of the US Army from Oct. 1942 to Oct. 1945. He received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star with Oakleaf Cluster, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a plasterer and also was a locomotive engineer for 40 years with the Penna. Railroad, N.Y. Central and Conrail, retiring in 1982.

He enjoyed woodworking, making wooden stools for his family, golfing, camping, fishing, reading avidly, spending time with his grandsons and great-grandsons, and had traveled with his wife to Florida, near Clermont, for the winter for 21 years.

He was a member of St. StephenÕs Lutheran Church, and a past council member. He was a member of Crawford- Brubaker Post 5863 VFW.

His memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. StephenÕs Lutheran Church, Licking Creek Valley, with the Rev. Chris Mathiason officiating. Interment will be in the St. StephenÕs Lutheran Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council. There will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. StephenÕs Lutheran Church, RR3, Box 905, Mifflintown, PA 17059, or to Juniata County Meals on Wheels, in care of Diane Marshall, 311 Washington Ave., Mifflintown, PA 17059.

Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown has care of the arrangements.
