- John served in the Coldstream Guards. His army number was 18513. He w as a Private Foot Soldier. It is said that his head was blown of in the First World War, and Florr ie raised the 2 children on her own. She had a breakdown and was sent to Prestwich Mental Hospital and when s he recovered she preffered to stay there and work in the kitchen. Her sist ers never saw her again. She probably died there. 20.02.2002. Found on Commonwealth War Graves Site; Record of death of Private 18513 John Jones. Died Wednesday 05 September 1917. Buried: Bluet Farm Cemetery, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Grave Reference: I.H.43. Bluet Farm was used as a dressing station during the 1917 Allied offensi ve on this front. The cemetery was begun in a corner of the farm and w as in use from June to December 1917, though a few of the burials a re of a later date. There are now 442 First World War burials in the cemet ery and 9 from the Second World War, all dating from the allied retre at to Dunkirk in May 1940. The cemetery was designed by Sir Robert Blomfie ld. The cemetery is located to the north west of the town of Ieper (ypres) ne ar a village called Elverdinge, 3 kilometres from Ieper.2
